Scissors For Lefty - Underhanded Romance
Wer nach wie vor Trauer trägt, weil er/sie es noch immer nicht verwunden hat, dass es Pulp nicht mehr gibt bzw. Jarvis Cocker lieber Texte für Charlotte Gainsbourg schreibt als sich selbst wieder mal auf irgendeine Art und Weise zu äußern (die Rezension des mitlerweile erschienenen Soloalbums Cockers, folgt in Kürze an dieser Stelle. - Anm. der Redaktion), der kann jetzt die schwarzen Klamotten ausziehen und die Miene wieder auf hell stellen: die Scissors For Lefty kommen aus Kalifornien, sind zu viert und bestehen hälftig aus Brüderpaaren. Die Herkunft verwundert ob der Machart ihrer Songs schon ein wenig, dass sie Acts wie die überschätzten Arctic Monkeys, die unterschätzten Dirty Pretty Things oder Paul Weller supporteten eher weniger. Wir hören also Jarvis, der hier Bryan heißt, wir hören einen Mix aus Franz Ferdinand, Pulp und den Killers. Und wisst Ihr was: was eigentlich ein Grund zur Verdammnis wäre, fühlt sich in dieser Kombination wirklich gut an. Ausnahmslos alle Songs auf „Underhanded Romance“ sind angenehm, gehen ins Ohr, will sagen, haben Hitpotential. Ergo kann man die gesamte Scheibe nur wärmstens empfehlen. Wenn es nach mir gehen würde, was es natürlich nicht tut, dann wären die Scissor Brothers das nächste große Ding. Vertraut also meinem Geschmack und checkt dies hier mal aus. Bei Nichtgefallen kann ja weitergetrauert werden. Dazu aber bitte „Wandering Arm“ hören, dem „pulpigsten“ aller Songs der Brüder Krimmel und Garzas! (Sanctuary Records / Rough Trade) Arty Fischl
